EV charging works best when connectors and charging areas are kept clean, dry and predictable. BYD SEAL owners do not need an elaborate maintenance ritual, but simple inspection habits can help identify contamination or damage before plugging in.
Inspect before connecting
Look for visible dirt, foreign objects, moisture or damage around the charging interface and cable connector. Never insert tools or improvised objects into electrical contacts. Follow the vehicle and charging-equipment instructions for cleaning, operation and wet-weather use.
About dust seals and port accessories
GlobalBYD currently lists a Charging Port Dustproof Rubber Seal and a Charger Port Cover in the SEAL collection. These accessories require exact fitment verification. They must not obstruct connector seating, latching, drainage, closure or normal charging operation.
Connector shape is not enough
Physical resemblance does not establish electrical compatibility, voltage, current, charging speed or communication compatibility. Use only charging equipment appropriate for the exact vehicle, market and charging system.
A simple routine
- Visually inspect the area before charging
- Keep foreign material away from contacts
- Do not force a connector
- Stop if there is visible damage or abnormal operation
- Follow BYD and charging-equipment instructions

FAQ
Can I force a charging accessory into place if it is tight?
No. Stop and verify exact compatibility rather than forcing any charging-related component.
Does a dust seal change charging capability?
No. A protective accessory should not be assumed to alter charging power, speed or electrical capability.
